Green Mountain Stage Race
The Green Mountain Stage Race is held annually on Labor Day weekend. It is four days of racing, one stage per day, throughout the Mad River Valley and parts of Chittenden County.
The race begins with Stage 1 — Big World Time Trial on the first day. It is a 5.7 mile race that begins in Warren Village with a 2.3 mile climb up Brook Road to East Warren Road, ending at the Waitsfield Common Road intersection.
Green Mountain Stage Race - Granville Gulf
Stage 2 — The Bridges Resort Circuit Race is held on the second day in Hinesburg. This stage is 29.8 miles per lap with most classes of riders traveling a total of 64.2 miles.
Stage 3 — The Champion Systems Mad River Road Race descends from the Lincoln Peak base area at Sugarbush Resort to Route 100, then continues South through Granville Gulf and Rochester where the course turns to cross the Brandon Gap. From Brandon, the course turns North until reaching Route 17 where it turns East through Bristol and ends at the summit of the Appalachian Gap.
Finally, Stage 4 — Burlington Criterium is on the streets of Burlington, Vermont’s largest city. The course is 1 km per lap with various classes riding a total distance ranging from 15.4 miles to 31 miles.
