Mad River Glen

Mad River Glen, home to the now famous Single Chair, was opened in 1948. Roland Palmedo, the founder and an original investor at Stowe, created the resort for the enjoyment of the sport not the bottom line. It is now the only ski area in the country owned by a co-op of its skiers.

Riding the Single Chair

Known the world over for it’s hand cut trails and challenging terrain, Mad River Glen is also a great ski area for families and kids. With a single base area, all trails return to the same place.

Base Box

The Base Box lodge offers casual cafeteria dining and table service in the bar area. A wall of windows next to the original stone fireplace in the bar, offers a clear view of the single chair and up the mountain.
